Outreach Ministry

Faith Lutheran is involved with the following ministries at our church or in the community. To volunteer with a particular ministry, please contact Pastor Kiri Solberg at 763-755-3530 or pastorkiri@faithlutherancr.org.

Social Ministry Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm at church. At these meetings we share a bible devotion and pray for the volunteers in the ministries and the persons they will serve. Planning for the ministries then takes place following the time of prayer or at other times. If you are interested in participating in this time of prayer and devotions, please contact the Social Ministry Chair Loralie Christensen at 763-755-4464.

ABAKU is a transitional housing project which allows families to stay for up to 12 months. We help twice a year to work with the families, help with moving, and meet the needs of the families. Lutheran Social Services and other community churches are also involved.

ACBC (Anoka County Brotherhood Council) is our local food shelf, and during the month of March, food or money is collected to help with replenishing the shelves. Volunteers are needed at the food shelf on a regular basis.

CEAP (Community Emergency Assistance Program) is a coalition of congregations and other community partners who seek to avert crisis by providing food, clothing, and financial assistance and other emergency services. Located in the Anoka County Human Services building in Blaine. Many volunteer opportunities exist.

FAMILY TABLE MEAL is a free hot meal served to anyone in our church and community the first Thursday of each month.

FREE TO BE is a car care program which provides and repairs cars for those in need. Faith Lutheran sponsors the month of November, but volunteers are welcome year-round.

GIVING TREE provides opportunities to help meet holiday needs for children and families in Coon Rapids. The Giving Tree goes up the middle of November, and donations are to be returned to the church by the first weekend in December.

MEALS ON WHEELS delivers hot noon meals to people of our community. Volunteers from Faith Lutheran deliver every six weeks, Monday - Friday at 11:30 AM.

MICAH NORTH (Metropolitan Interfaith Council of Affordable Housing)advocates for affordable housing in Anoka county.

SHAREFEST is held in November. The bazaar raises money for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal and local hunger needs. Craft donations are welcome, as well as volunteers to help put on the event.

THANKSGIVNG DAY DINNER is a turkey dinner with all the trimmings served on Thanksgiving Day to those in need. Hats, mittens, and a tote box of groceries are also distributed.
