All are invited to attend Sunday morning forums, held Sundays at 9:15 and 10:30am in the Library.

Most forums consist of a presentation and a short time for group discussion.

New Bible Studies

Beginners Bible Study - Book of Acts - The Early Christian Church
A five week study on the Book of Acts will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:50 - 8:00 PM in the Library. We will follow the disciples from Jesus' resurrection to the formation of the Christian church and its early mission. No Bible background is required, only a willingness to attend all five sessions, if possible, and to commit to reading one to two chapters of scripture each week. A two page participant’s guide will be made available at our first meeting. All are welcome.

January 20 - Introduction to the study of Acts. Meet the leaders, discuss the study format, discuss a historical view of Acts
January 27 - Acts Chapter 1, The promise of power and the beginning of community
February 3 - Acts Chapters 2-5, The message and the response
February 10 - Acts Chapters 6-7, Growing pains of an early Christian community
February 17 - Acts Chapter 8-10, Saul becomes Paul and the continuing spread of the word

Bible for Beginners - A Place to Start

Wednesdays, 6:00 – 6:50pm, February 17 – March 24
Does the Bible seem rather intimidating, but you really want to learn more? Have you had a new or renewed interest in your faith recently? Do you wonder about worship and the traditions of the Lutheran Church? Bring your questions to this Christian Basics class, taught by Pastor Kiri. We'll start from the beginning - learning how to read the bible, what the bible tells us about God, and how God works in our daily lives. Meets 2nd Monday of each month in the conference room at Faith

• Most participants are women who are empty nesters, but all ages are welcome.

Bad Girls of the Bible
Meets 1st Sunday of each month, 6:30pm at the Caribou Coffee in Andover

• This bible study group gets its ironic name from the first book they studied together. It is a group for women in their 20’s – 40’s.
• The group typically starts a new study every 6 months. Participants with all different levels of bible learning are welcome!

Events

Field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts - Saturday, March 6
The hour-long tour starts at 11:00 AM. On the "Arts and Artifacts of the Biblical World", we will examine and discuss Mediterranean objects from ancient Rome and Greece, including oil lamps and glassware. We will also look at paintings and sculptures and how artists have visualized Biblical events and figures. The tour leader will be MIA docent JeanMarie Burtness, member of Faith Lutheran.

After the tour, participants will be free to roam the rest of the museum or have a bit of lunch at the museum cafeteria run by D'Amico and Sons. If you are willing to drive and take several people with you, please indicate how many people you can take as you sign up. If you would like to attend, but need a ride, please sign up and leave your phone number.

Faith Date Nights - A New Ministry for Families with Kids ages 0-5
Has your social life taken a dive since kids? Do you enjoy talking with other parents going through the same things as you? Would it be nice to have a night out without having to do all the work of planning? Mark “Faith Date Nights” on your calendar now!

Faith Date Nights is a once a month ministry for families in what can be a very stressful time of life. Each gathering will have a time of connecting with each other, with scripture and with a topic pertinent to this stage of life. Dinner and childcare will be provided. Registration cost is $10/family, or $5 without the pizza supper. The schedule each night will be: 5:30 - 6:00 PM pizza supper, 6:00 - 7:30 PM planned program for parents/kids nursery activities.
